How to Use the Material Picker

Choosing the right gasket material can feel complicated, so we’ve made it simple. Just answer a few quick questions below and we’ll shortlist the best options for your job.

1. Medium / Service Select what the gasket will be sealing against—for example: fuel, oil, water, coolant, steam, or chemicals.

2. Temperature Choose the approximate operating temperature. If you're unsure, pick the closest upper limit or consult your equipment documentation.

3. Pressure Select the expected system pressure. If you’re not sure, choose “I don’t know” and the tool will prioritize safe, general-duty recommendations.

4. Flange Face Pick the flange type if known (Flat Face, Raised Face, etc.). If unsure, select Not sure—the tool will adjust its scoring accordingly.

5. Compliance Choose any specific requirement, such as Food/Potable grade or just General Duty.

6. Cut Method If you have a preference—such as knife-cut or laser-cut—select it here. Otherwise, No preference works perfectly.
